KELLY MAKUCH STUDIO
Biography

Currently residing in Newtown, Connecticut, Kelly Makuch is a multimedia artist whose experiences have included painting, sculpture, advertising, film, metalsmithing, and for the past 18 out of 20 years kilnformed glass. She's found the medium of glass freed her to creatively express the subliminal powers of both realistic and abstract representation. Glass was the medium that has allowed her connect aspects of what she enjoyed from many of the art forms she's been drawn to over the years and explore how the information gained from each, could be woven together in a piece. She believes learning should never end. As a self-proclaimed "skill collector" and an aspiring "tool hound", she feels these beliefs /traits help her create finely crafted, unique and soulful pieces of heirloom quality.
Growing up in upstate New York and on the East End beaches of Long Island, Kelly has been drawn to capturing moments in nature. She is fascinated by the science and natural world. She enjoys reflecting on the linkage to the larger world around her and just how lucky she is to be experiencing life on this beautiful planet. It is the process of artistically translating those reflections, recognizing their relationships, sharing time with family and friends, and facilitating others in creating and learning, that brings her some of her life's greatest joy.
