Sunday, November 13, 2022
11am- 2pm
Adult
Workshop Fee $75.00+tx
Materials: provided. Choice of copper and/or brass wires
Tools and Optional Ear Protection for hammering provided.
Lab Fee: included.
Prerequisite: N/A
Lesson Style: Project based, lecture and demonstration learning.
Skill Level: Beginner
Technique: Metalsmithing: various: forming, forging, annealing, texturing, wire wrapping, polishing and how to add patina.
Class Description:
Do you love to rock a scarf or shawl in the cooler months or have a friend that does? Do you want to learn new skills and make a couple gifts for the holidays while doing so and be able to make more at home with tools you may already have at home? Don’t have loads of time, but would like to hammer out some holiday season stress? This workshop is perfect for you!
Celtic pins dates back a couple thousand years, but their style remains as modern and functional as it was then! They make perfect companions to a loose weave crocheted or knitted garment. They’re a friend when you need your hands free because they hold your garment in place for you! The added bonus of the attached pin part means you won’t have to worry about losing or misplacing any part of it! Need I say more?!
Join me in my home-based studio for this small group, fast-paced metalsmithing workshop where you’ll use copper and/or brass silver wires to form, hand forge, file, texture, anneal with torch-if needed, learn how to add patina, and finish pieces! Finished pieces are roughly 2.25” in outer diameter. We will explore penannular and free form shapes.
Please note, this is a hands-on workshop using tools that require repetitive motion activities and hand strength. Those with hand, neck or back issues may wish to consult with me prior to sign up to see if the class is a good fit for you. Also, if you are of the age where you’ve heard and know what presbyopia is, you may wish to bring or invest in magnifier lens glasses. There are some inexpensive ones on Amazon that have built in head lamps. Chat me up, I’ll direct you to the kind I have. Access to the studio requires descending/climbing a full set of stairs.
Registration will close 2 days prior to the workshop. At registration, please be sure to furnish your correct email so we can send or update important information about your session. Thank you! This class will need to meet minimum of three to run.

Class Description:
Have you been saving broken China or a favorite plate in hopes to someday make something special with it? I can help you with that! Bring your stash of broken China here and I’ll show you how to turn some into jewelry!

Please bring an N95 mask for sanding, cutting and grinding of your China, especially if you are unsure whether your pottery or China lead free glaze so that you can sand and cut your cabochon safely. Some of the power tools you may use are, butane torch, tile saw, drill press, grinders, flex-shafts, jeweler’s saw, files and finishing.
The studio has a limited supply of additional metals and sterling silver chain for separate purchase. You are welcome to bring a bagged lunch/snack.
When registering online be sure to add a valid email so I can send a welcome letter, waiver, parking info and weather-related cancellation updates that may arise. Snow Date will be posted in your welcome letter.

Re-loved: A Found Sea Glass, China or Pebble Jewelry Workshop
Jewelry Workshop
#2022-2
Saturday, May 14, 2022 10:30am-3:30pm
Adult: Beginner to intermediate skills
Workshop Fee: $95.00 +$20.00 materials +tx
Have you been saving that broken China, beach glass or beach pebble in hopes to someday make something with it? Well then, this workshop is for you! Bring your stash of broken China, sea glass and small beach stones here and let’s turn some into jewelry! We’ll first access and appreciate each other’s collections and then determine which jewelry techniques would be best suit your specimens.
You’ll have the freedom and time to discuss and plan how to incorporate your bits into larger jewelry pieces you’ve been dream of or begin creating a project with them straight away! Some options, as time allows are a pair of earrings, a pendant and a cabochon. We will cover many techniques including wire wrapping, drilling, reshaping and grinding, safety, and how to make ear wires along with bezel options. This will be a relaxed class with plenty of discussion, brainstorming, demonstrations, and yes, planning by drawing-an important step when creating any design where resources are limited and, in my opinion a good practice. We’ll take a short break for lunch, so please provide your own. Tools Included. Additional Materials/silver wire available for purchase.

Workshop Fee:
*Registration Deposit : (is applied to cost)
Ages 16 to Adult
Class Description
After many requests for the use of our chickadee lantern design as their pattern, I've decided to add this as a guided workshop! This mid-sized metal lantern in your choice of white or black will frame for your work of decorative art beautifully! Using our design of a chickadee or cardinal, fusible glass, frit, stringers, enamel and bits. Our sample/pattern has two matching sides and two other panels with differing designs. If you wish, you can decorate your four clear panels in your choice of our chickadee or cardinal patterns. You can also add a little something, something to make your creation unique to you! Great for the person who loves to follow along with a pattern while learning a new skill or two. Only one side of the lantern is shown, but they are all cuties. Trust me, this will be a workshop you’ll want to take again and again! Want to create a matching lantern or an extra for a gift? No problem! Return during Open Studio hours and make a second one for $45.00! No experience necessary. All tools and materials and firing included. We will assemble lantern for you. Pick-up in about a week to 10 days. This workshop would make a great “girl’s day out” date!

I’ve always loved this Chainmaille weave! The Byzantine weave is an ancient unisex chain pattern that is both strong in style and elegant. While not the most basic of the Chainmaille patterns, it will be the first in the series of Chainmaille chain patterns the studio will offer.
Don’t let the richness of the weave fool you into thinking this bracelet is too complicated for you to make! With just two tools and more than a few jump rings, it won’t be long before you’ll be enjoying the meditative rhythm of this repeating pattern! Some may be able to finish the whole bracelet during class. Learn to fabricate your own clasp out of wire or choose a prefabricated one. Makes a great gift! Copper or silver tone included in materials. With notice and additional fee of $30.00, we can order silver fill jump rings. Beginners please note: Silver filled rings are slightly harder to open and close than aluminum or copper.
