"My goal in creating a personal pet ornament, or keepsake as I like to refer to them, is to take care to capture the spirit and likeness of your furry family member. "
While I enjoy many techniques in glass, I have found a renewed pleasure in painting by joining the medium of glass enamel with fusible sheet glass to create my unique trademark style of personalized custom pet portraits.
Whether a dog or cat lover,(or other) we can most certainly agree that our pets are part of our family. What better way to honor our furry family members than to commission a hand cut, enamel painted and kiln-fired glass portrait? My goal in creating a personal pet ornament, or keepsake as I like to refer to them, is to take care to capture the spirit and likeness of your furry family member. With hand cut and ground glass to the specific head shape of your pet, I use multiple layers of enamel that are applied, allowed to dry and then set by kiln-firing before another layer of enamel is applied. It's a time consuming, true labor of love process, with a minimum of forty hours spent per portrait and subsequent firings with each firing being a twenty-four hour process in my kiln. If you wish to commission a custom pet portrait, please contact me. I'll be happy to help you get the process started. These portraits have often been commissioned by family and friends for both living pets and as a memorial gift.
